# Privacy — Jaru

What jaru.dev collects when you visit, who processes it, and how to opt out.

## In short

jaru.dev has no accounts, forms, or comments, so it never asks for personal information. It measures visits with two analytics tools, described below, so the author can see which projects people look at and how fast the pages load.

## Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights

Vercel, which hosts the site, counts page views and measures loading performance (Core Web Vitals). These tools set no cookies; Vercel identifies a visit with a hash that resets daily, and reports only aggregate numbers such as visits per page, referrers, countries, browsers, and device types.

## PostHog

PostHog records page views and clicks on links and buttons (autocapture), together with your browser, device, screen size, referring page, and an approximate location derived from your IP address. Data is processed in PostHog's EU region.

PostHog stores a random identifier in a first-party cookie and in local storage, so repeat visits are recognized as the same anonymous visitor. Session recording, heatmaps, and error capture are turned off. Nothing is linked to your name or email, because the site never has them.

## Your choices

- Block or clear cookies and site data for jaru.dev in your browser; PostHog then treats each visit as new.
- Content blockers that block analytics stop both tools; the site works the same without them.
- To ask about or remove data tied to your visits, write through the [contact page](https://jaru.dev/contact).

## Hosting logs

Like any web host, Vercel receives your IP address and request details when serving the site, and keeps them in short-lived logs for security and operations.
